Lawn Mower Will Not Start
- No power: Check the power cable, extension lead, plug, fuse, outlet, and safety switch before restarting.
- Battery not charged: For cordless models, fully charge the battery and make sure it is locked into the mower correctly.
- Safety key missing: Confirm that the safety key or isolator key is inserted where required.
- Handle switch not engaged: Press the start button and hold the operator presence lever according to the model manual.
Blade Does Not Rotate
- Grass blockage: Disconnect power and remove packed grass from around the blade and underside of the deck.
- Cutting height too low: Raise the cutting height when mowing long, damp, or thick grass.
- Blade bolt loose: Check that the blade is installed securely and facing the correct direction.
- Motor overload: Allow the mower to cool down before restarting after heavy cutting.
Poor Cutting Performance
- Dull blade: Replace or sharpen the blade if grass tips look torn, uneven, or brown after cutting.
- Wrong height setting: Adjust the cutting height gradually instead of removing too much grass at once.
- Wet grass: Avoid mowing wet grass because it can clog the deck and reduce collection efficiency.
- Fast walking speed: Move slower when cutting dense or overgrown areas.
Battery or Cordless Mower Issues
- Short runtime: Charge the battery fully, reduce cutting load, and avoid cutting very long grass in one pass.
- Battery not recognized: Remove and reinstall the battery, check contacts, and clean dust or debris from the battery slot.
- Charger light error: Refer to the charger manual for LED meanings and allow hot batteries to cool before charging.
- Old battery: Replace batteries that no longer hold charge after normal charging cycles.
Grass Box Not Filling Properly
- Blocked discharge chute: Stop the mower, disconnect power, and clear grass from the chute and deck opening.
- Grass box not fitted: Make sure the collection box or bag is correctly attached and seated.
- Air vents clogged: Clean the grass box vents so airflow can carry clippings into the collector.
- Grass too wet: Let the lawn dry before mowing for better collection performance.
Excessive Vibration or Noise
- Damaged blade: Stop immediately and inspect the blade for bends, cracks, or impact damage.
- Loose fasteners: Check blade bolts, handle screws, wheels, and deck fittings.
- Debris under deck: Remove stones, twigs, and compacted grass from the blade area.
- Uneven blade installation: Reinstall the blade according to the correct orientation shown in the manual.
Safety note: Always disconnect the power plug, remove the battery, and take out the safety key before cleaning, checking, replacing the blade, clearing blockages, or working under the mower deck. Wear gloves when handling mower blades.
